Quality Initiatives by Internal Quality Assurance Cell Session 2021-2022
Annual Planning:
Academic Calendar:
Internal Quality Assurance Cell prepared the Institutional Academic Calendar at the beginning of the session as per the schedule and guidelines provided in the academic calendar issued by the Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra for the session 2021-2022.
Annual Action Plan:
Following the Strategic Plan (5 Year plan) of the SD College prepared after the NAAC accreditation in the Cycle III for the next five years of the accreditation period and inputs taken from Head of the department/Incharges of each department and Principal of the College, IQAC chalked out the Annual Plan for the session 2021-2022.
Setting up the Benchmarks:
After the analysis of performance of the institution in the Annual Quality Assurance Reports of last four sessions submitted to NAAC, IQAC set up the benchmarks for each metric falling under Key indicators of all seven criterions for the session 2021-2022 for quality enhancement in the institution.
Designing/Updating PO’s,PSO’s & CO’s & its attainment mechanism
IQAC facilitated the design/revision of Programs Outcomes, Program Specific Outcomes and Course outcomes by each department for their respective programs & courses and published them on the college web site for the information of the students. IQAC also conducted the Orientation program for the staff for designing the PO’s , PSO’s and CO’s and its attainment.
Handbook on Code of Conduct
Handbook for code of conduct for students, staff and management has been published on the college website . Code of conduct for students has also been published in the e-Prospectus of the college.
Curriculum Enrichment Initiatives
Conduct of Add on/Certificate/value added programs for the holistic development of students
Ninety Two Add on /Certificate/value added courses on Technical Skills, Communication & Soft Skills , Life Skills & Cross Cutting issues have been offered to the students during the session as per their interests and inclinations for their holistic development.

Comprehensive Feedback System:
IQAC facilitated the collection of Feedback for the design and review of curriculum from stakeholders viz Students, Teachers, Employers & Alumni department wise using structured and comprehensive mechanism. Feedbacks from students and teachers are collected at the end of the semester. Feedback from employers is taken during placement drives and through personal visits in their organizations. Feedback from alumni is collected during departmental alumni meets. Feedbacks collected are analyzed by the Head of the respective departments. Inputs given by the various stakeholders are handled on two levels:
- College Level
- University Level
Suggestions given by the stakeholders for the changes or up gradation of syllabus are documented and submitted to respective Board of study of the university for further action by the HOD of the respective departments after the approval of the governing body of the college. Other Suggestions given by the stakeholders for the enrichment and delivery of the curriculum is implemented by the Head of the departments and action taken reports are prepared and submitted to principal and IQAC for the review.
Quality Initiative in Evaluation Process:
Rubric has been defined for the assessment of attainment of Learning Outcomes of Programs and courses this year.
Quality initiatives in Teaching-Learning Process:
Set up of Lecture Recording Studio
New sound proof Lecture recording studio has been set up with chroma and video mixing set up to facilitate teachers to develop e-resources for the hybrid learning of the students.
Online Certificate Courses on LMS
20 online courses have been conducted through LMS by Department of Computer Science for the students, house wives, professionals, research scholars on national level and raised a fund of approximately 5,50,000/- for the college.

With the motivation of IQAC for interdisciplinary and interdepartmental research activities 19 Faculty members of 12 Departments had applied for research projects to non government agencies and an amount of Rs 2,60,000/- had been approved by various non government agencies to these departments.

Innovation Ecosystem:
IQAC has facilitated the development of institutional innovation council and Entrepreneurship Development cell for creating the innovation ecosystem in the college. Under the cells 14 seminars/webinar/workshops have been conducted on Entrepreneurship, IPR and research related topics.

Total 18 Memorandum of Understanding have been signed with industry, institutes of high eminence & other colleges for skill training of students & staff and conduct of collaborative academic activities.

Quality Initiatives in Infrastructural up-gradation & Promoting Green Practices:
For providing the conducive, safe, healthy & eco friendly environment for learning, following facilities have been created in the college for the students:
- Fire Hydrant Safety System has been installed in the whole campus to keep students & staff safe from any type of damage and destruction by fire.
- New Fire Extinguishers have been installed and existing Fire Extinguishers are refilled for the life safety of students and staff.
- Institution’s Innovation Council cum Meeting Room has been constructed for facilitating the Incubations, start-ups and industry-academia practices.
- To enhance water conservation facilities, four additional Rainwater Recharging Borewells have been installed in the college campus.
- 06 additional Vermi-Compost Units have been installed for organic waste management.
- To strengthen the energy conservation measures, Sensor based lights have been installed in the campus to save energy.
- New Home Science Laboratory has been constructed.
- Drinking Water facilities have been strengthened by installing 02 Water Coolers.
- Classrooms, Seminar Halls and Office have been refurnished with new furniture.
- For providing the right lighting conditions in ground, Flood Lights gave been installed in the ground.
- Provision of Green House has been added to provide protected & safe environment to plants.
- Digital display system has been installed in the library.
Faculty Enrichment Initiatives:
To enrich faculty with knowledge of respective subject, latest technological developments, NAAC Accreditation Process, Documentation & Report Writing, pedagogies, ICT Tools & Life Skills, IQAC has facilitated conduct of 11 seminars & 04 Workshops have been conducted.

Quality Initiatives in E-Waste management, Disabled friendly and barrier free environment
- E-Waste Bins have been installed in the college at various places for the E-Waste Management.
- New Ramp connecting to the humanities block at First Floor has been constructed.
- Signage including tactile path, lights, display boards and signposts have been installed in the college campus.
12 meetings have been conducted by the IQAC throughout the session to have deliberations on quality related issues and to plan various activities from time to time.
Development of Dedicated Micro Sites:
- Alumni Micro Site: To facilitate the connection with the old alumnus of the college & to share the success stories of alumni a dedicated micro website of Alumni has been developed.
- Scholarship Micro Web Site: To provide the information about various government & private scholarship schemes to the students and to provide information of the beneficiaries of the schemes to various stakeholders, a micro website of Scholarship Cell has been developed.
- Institutional repository to showcase intellectual output of the college has been developed.

Qualitative Initiatives by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) for the session 2020-21
Initiative: 1- Conduct of National Seminars/webinars on quality enhancement in Higher education Institutions .
Productive Deliberations among all the stakeholders of higher education institutions is the key to develop quality culture in HEI’s. With the objective of internalization & institutionalization of innovative and best practices in the higher institutions, IQAC organized three national level seminars on quality related issues – Two seminars were held in collaboration with NAAC, Bangaluru on NAAC revised framework and one seminar was conducted by the eminent resource person on National Education Policy 2020. About 733 principals, IQAC members and faculty members from the affiliated/government colleges from all over nation participated and had deliberations.

Performance output of Mentee Institute
With the constant guidance and training of IQAC, Sanatan Dharma College, under mentioned two institutions have submitted their pending AQAR’s and are ready to submit their SSR for NAAC accreditation within coming two months.
- MM College, Fatehabad has submitted their pending AQAR’s of the session 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20.

With the motivation of the IQAC, following members have been able to be part of Board of studies of their respective subjects in the Kurukshetra University to become instrumental in the design and review of syllabus and help college to upgrade the curriculum as per the latest market trends and demand of the stakeholders.
- Ashutosh Angiras has been nominated as Associate Professor representative in the faculty of Indic studies for the period of two years w.e.f 18 Feb,2020
- Sonia Batra has been nominated as Member UG Board of Studies Zoology.
- Roshan Lal Dhiman has been nominated as PG College teacher representative in PGBOS in Physics for the duration of two years w.e.f from 11 Feb, 2020.
- Nirvair Singh has been nominated as College Teacher representative in U.G.B.O.S in Punjabi for the duration of two years w.e.f 21 October, 2020.
Subject related Certificate/Add on courses for the skill enhancement of students.
41 certificate courses on Hard/Soft/Life skills have been offered to students to enrich the curriculum with latest demands of the market and yet producing skilled manpower for the industry.
Initiative 12: Fund Generation
E-Resource development cell has executed 11 skill oriented certificate courses on nominal charges for the outside students, kids, professionals and house wives and generated handsome fund for the institution.

Keeping the idea of service quality at its core, the IQAC aims to develop a heightened level of clarity and focus in institutional functioning towards creation, sustenance, and enhancement of quality through better decision making, greater coordination amongst the constituents of College, and enhanced communication with stakeholders. The IQAC is developing parameters for excellence and a process of monitoring in all the areas. It is setting up various feedback mechanisms related to the College.
Following events were organised by the cell:
1.Organized One day National Seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights: Emerging Issues and Challenges” sponsored by DGHE, Haryana in collaboration with Central Library, Sanatan Dharma College Ambala Cantt on 25-Jan-2020 at Sanatan Dharma College, Ambala Cantt.
2.Organized One day Seminar on “Environmental Issues: Threats and Mitigation” in collaboration with NSS & Energy Management Cell D, Ambala Cantt on 14-Feb-2020 at Sanatan Dharma College, Ambala Cantt.
3.Coordinated re-designing, collection and analysis of feedback from all stakeholders for design and review of the curriculum for the session.
4.Facilitated establishment of Sanatan Dharma College as SWAYAM Local Chapter on 04-Oct-2019.
5.Coordinated enrollment of 44 faculty members of Computer Science, Commerce and Chemistry and one librarian in online refresher course on ARPIT-SWAYAM platform-initiative of Government of India from Sep-2019 to Dec-2019.
6.Facilitated signing of 36 Functional Memorandum of understanding with industry and institutions of high eminence.
7.Conducted Internal Academic and Administrative audit for the session 2019-20 in the month of February to identify areas of improvement and chalked out the action plan for the session 2020-21.
8.Conducted 15 meetings comprising members of IQAC and various cell to chalk out the action plan for quality improvements in various areas of curriculum planning & delivery, Teaching learning processes, Research, Extensions , Infrastructure , Student support services , Governance & administration and human values development.
9.Conducted Energy Audit of the college in association with Energy Management Cell for the analysis of energy utilization and assessment of energy conservative measures adopted and identification of corrective measures to be taken for further improvements.
10.Conducted Green Audit in association with Environment Cell to design the framework of Environment Sustainability in compliance with the applicable national policies.
11.Conducted External Academic and Administrative audit for the evaluation of institutional processes to enhance the quality of education.
12.Submitted the Institutional information on All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) portal on 27-Feb.
13.IQAC submitted the institutional data for participation in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), India Rankings 2020 in Nov-2019.
14.Following the mission of UGC to enable all non-accredited higher education institutions to get accredited by 2022, IQAC has started mentoring Nine Government & Aided Colleges for the NAAC Accreditation process under the UGC Scheme of “PARAMARSH” for Mentoring NAAC Accreditation Aspirant Institutions to promote Quality Assurance in Higher Education.

Qualitative Initiatives by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC):
1. Financial Audit for the session 2017-2018 was conducted in the month of May-2018 to review the balance sheet and plan out the budget for the Session 2018-2019.
2. 7 Informal and 3 formal meetings of Internal Quality Cell under the chairman ship of Head of the institution, Dr. Rajinder Singh were held in the month of Nov & Dec-2018 to have brainstorming sessions on Revised Accreditation Framework for the better understanding of 7 Criteria, 32 Key Indicators, 121 Qualitative & Quantitative metrics and their importance in the order of weightage to chalk out the action plan for the coming session.
3. IQAC applied for National Institutional Ranking framework 2019 approved by MHRD for the ranking of our institution across the country in Nov-2018.
4. IQAC in association with Central Library of the College organized One Day Workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights and Plagiarism” on 17-Feb-2019 under the financial assistance of UGC Scheme of “College with Potential for Excellence”, Phase- II for the faculty of Sanatan Dharma College, Ambala Cantt. The faculty was on treat as three eminent personalities Dr. Naresh Vats, Registrar and Professor of Law, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law Patiala, Dr. Rahul Taneja, Scientist, Department of Science and Technology, Haryana. Dr. Priya Rai, Deputy Librarian & Officer In-charges were resource persons of the workshop. They very effectively shared their experiences and gave insightful knowledge about procedure of filing IPR, Challenges and remedies of patent laws, plagiarism ethics, UGC plagiarism regulations and other IPR issues.
5. IQAC facilitated the conduct of one day Workshop on the topic “Awareness and Need of NAAC Assessment and Accreditation of the Colleges” organised by Haryana State Higher Education Council and sponsored by RUSA at Sanatan Dharma College, Ambala Cantt. The workshop was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chairman, Haryana State Higher Education Council, Prof. Brij Kishore Kuthiala. Technical Session-I started with the insightful talk on “Revised Assessment and Accreditation Framework” by Prof. Gulshan Lal Taneja, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak which set the tone for one day workshop and emphasized that Quality Assurance is must and therefore quality assessment is to be accepted as a pleasant and productive challenge. Audience was delighted by NAAC Documentary Video and Video Tutorial after the talk. Prof. N. Narasimhamurthy, Dean Faculty of Arts, Bengaluru Central University enlightened the audience with his wonderful presentation on Self Study Report in Technical Session–II. Technical session-II was followed by a panel discussion and interactive session wherein participants from various colleges raised their questions and sought clarification on issues related to logistic fee, Peer team visit, IIQA submission and also shared the problems faced by them in the process of assessment and accreditation by NAAC. The workshop witnessed the presence of 247 principals from the colleges of Haryana.
6. IQAC subscribed for Digital Library in the month of Mar-2019 to be accessed online by the students of the college for 24 hours, 365 days from anywhere at any time.
7. Feedback from the students is collected in the month of Mar-2019 through Online College Information Management System and Action Taken Report is prepared after the analysis of the feedback responses by the feedback committee
